Sourdough 101: From Starter to Slice

Pull up a chair, roll up your sleeves, and step into the wonderfully alive world of sourdough. This hands-on, three-hour class is designed for curious beginners and home bakers ready to build confidence with naturally leavened bread.


You will learn from two instructors with distinct baking styles and plenty of real-world experience. Christine focuses on crusty, artisan-style loaves with bold structure and crackling crusts, while Stephanie leans into softer, everyday sandwich breads built for sandwiches and toasting. Together, they offer a well-rounded approach that shows how flexible and forgiving sourdough can be.


The class covers the fundamentals of sourdough starter care, mixing and handling dough, and practical baking techniques you can use at home. Through live demonstrations, Christine and Stephanie will walk through each stage of fermentation and proofing, showing you what to look for, what to feel, and how to troubleshoot common issues.…
